HeyNomad: Where Business Travel Meets Leisure
CLIENT: HEYNOMAD
My role as the UI/UX Designer for this capstone project allowed me to showcase my skills in web usability and visual design. I applied detailed design principles and created high-fidelity wireframes to bring the project to life.
Capstone Project: HeyNomad
In today's increasingly mobile world, the line between business and leisure has blurred, giving rise to the "digital nomad" lifestyle. These individuals seamlessly blend work and travel, seeking experiences that enrich both their professional and personal lives.
HeyNomad is a concept for a travel booking platform designed specifically to cater to this unique demographic. During a nine-month UI/UX course, this capstone project allowed me to immerse myself in the world of user-centered design, applying detailed design principles and creating high-fidelity wireframes to demonstrate my understanding of web usability and visual design.
The goal was to craft a seamless and intuitive experience that anticipates the specific needs and desires of the modern digital nomad.

Crafting the Perfect "Bleisure" Experience
The Challenge
The core challenge was to design a travel booking platform specifically catering to the unique needs of digital nomads. This meant understanding their pain points and creating a seamless "bleisure" experience – balancing work and leisure. We needed to go beyond just booking flights and hotels; we had to consider factors like reliable internet access, coworking spaces, community engagement, and long-term stay logistics.
The Approach
User Research
We started by diving deep into user research, developing detailed personas to represent our target audience. This helped us understand their motivations, frustrations, and specific requirements when it comes to travel and remote work.
Brand Identity & Style Guide
We developed a brand identity and style guide that captured the essence of the digital nomad lifestyle – freedom, flexibility, and connection. This provided a consistent visual language across all platforms.
Information Architecture & Wireframing
Organizing the wealth of information (flights, accommodations, co-working spaces, local experiences, visa info, etc.) was crucial. We focused on creating an intuitive and uncluttered navigation experience.
Using Adobe XD, I created high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to test and refine the user experience. This allowed a simulation for the actual user journey and identify any areas for improvement.
Visual Design
Adobe XD, Illustrator and Photoshop were used to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces. Meticulous attention to typography, colour palettes, and imagery to create a cohesive and engaging design.
Persuasion Strategies
We strategically incorporated persuasive elements into the design to guide users towards desired actions without being intrusive. This included things like clear calls to action, social proof, and trust-building elements.
